I wear a lot of hats.

Creative Director, Product Developer, Graphic Designer, Copywriter, Photographer, Illustrator, and Digital Strategist

I'm passionate about discovery and collaboration.

My role, whether it is as a consultant, embedded team member, or employee, is to help company leaders communicate with their customers.

As a Creative Director and Designer, I work hands-on with teams to design, write, and produce user-friendly omnichannel campaigns that inform, instruct, and inspire (not necessarily in that order).

As a Product Developer, I help teams discover then develop product refinements that offer new benefits for their customers. From whiteboards and wireframes to functional prototypes and final products, I dive deep into the process to develop strategies and user experiences that provide utility, with ROI.

Although I prefer to work with professional designers, wordsmiths, photographers, and illustrators, I do my fair share of design, copywriting, picture making, and drawing too.

Each experience informs the next.

Not long after graduating college with a degree in Graphic Design, I set up shop as a freelance designer. That freelance work evolved into a full-time business with two partners. Our little design shop merged with a dev firm full of rocket scientists (literally) to become one of the largest tech firms in the southeast US. It was eventually acquired by a New York investment firm.

A few years later I founded, then over the next 11 years grew, and eventually sold another interactive agency. While serving as CEO and Creative Director, our client list included some of the world's most well-known brands including Band-Aid, Cracker Barrel, ExxonMobil, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, Rockwell Tools, The Washington Post, LEGO, National Geographic, and M.I.T. We also received some significant accolades that included 60+ American Advertising Federation awards and more than 50 American Graphic Design awards.

Along with those and other successes, I've had my fair share of missteps along the way. While others may try to sweep those under the rug, I see the value in each project or venture as lessons for how to... and not to do things the next time around.

The next chapter.

The agency game was fun, but after joining the Jumpstart Foundry's first official cohort back in 2011, I discovered a whole new passion for building from the inside out, as opposed to servicing products and brands as an outsider.

Since then, I've had the privilege to work as a mentor, consultant, embedded team member, and even founder of several amazing companies, helping them craft messages, raise investment money, recruit teams, and build products. Now, I'm ready for the next adventure. I don’t know what it will be yet, but I'm excited to find out. If you have ideas, I'd love to hear from you.

You can see my full professional history on LinkedIn. I also have some doodles posted on Dribbble, When I see faces in strange places, I post them on Instagram, and I tweet as @chrisblanz.
